Great Expectations

Sunday 14 October 2007

Sketch summary: It seems as if Kathy and Greg's endless prayers have finally been answered. In a few hours they will be parents. Then, unexpectedly, the birth mother changes her mind about the adoption. Kathy and Greg are again left childless and wondering why God hasn't answered their prayers.

Director's Notes: This sketch breaks out of our normal humorous mode and presents a serious topic. There were tears in the congregation by the end of the sketch. There were a number of positive comments regarding the talent required by the actors to make this believable.

This is one of the few sketches we have performed that we did not write. We had performed this sketch years ago. So far back that Jeanne and Harold as the parents seemed plausible. This time around Harold's graying hair excluded him from consideration as the father.

Cast:
Kathy - Pamm Avery
Deb - Miriam Wertz
Greg - Steve Matteson

Credits:
Director - Harold Rodgers
Author - Sharon Sherbondy (Willowcreek)

I was disappointed that I couldn't see this one because I was sick. It is one of my favorites. However, I have heard many people comment on how great Pamm was in her role. She and Steve did a wonderful job conveying true emotion according to all accounts. Well done!
